What is the difference between assistive bathing equipment and a standard bath?
The main difference is access. A standard bath requires you to lift your leg over a high rim, which becomes difficult if your balance or strength has changed. A walk-in bath has a low-level door that opens to let you step in at near-floor level. Beyond that, features like slip-resistant surfaces, anti-scalding controls and ergonomic seating are built in as standard.
Can assistive bathing equipment be fitted in a small bathroom?
Yes. The Access range includes compact models designed specifically for smaller spaces. The Florida has one of the smallest footprints available and fits comfortably into an en-suite or cloakroom conversion. Midi-length baths like the Georgia also work well where space is limited.
Does assistive bathing equipment need specialist installation?
It does. Walk-in baths require proper fitting to ensure the door seal is watertight and all plumbing connections are secure. We work through a network of approved specialist dealers who handle installation from start to finish.
What safety features should I look for?
A leak-free door seal backed by a guarantee is essential. Slip-resistant surfaces on the floor and seat area, anti-scalding temperature controls and a well-designed seat all matter. BioCote® antimicrobial protection is another feature worth looking for, as it reduces bacteria including E.coli and MRSA by up to 99.99% for the lifetime of the bath.
